Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government informed the legislative Assembly that several steps are being taken to develop Naranag in Ganderbal district as an attractive tourist destination. According to an official document, the government, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) confirmed its intention to bring Naranag on the tourism map, citing multiple initiatives aimed at enhancing its appeal for visitors. “The government is taking steps to develop Naranag as an attractive tourist destination,” the reply stated. As per the department, Naranag is being promoted as part of the Great Lakes Trek circuit through marketing campaigns that highlight its “unique natural beauty and historical significance.” The department also mentioned efforts to encourage community participation through homestay schemes, allowing local residents to register and operate homestays for providing tourists with an authentic and immersive experience. Additionally, appropriate signage is being installed at Naranag to help tourists navigate the area easily and learn about the site’s historical importance. The official response was tabled in reply to a starred question by MLA Mian Mehar Ali and signed by the Minister In-Charge, Department of Tourism—(KNO)
